PASTI Cross-Collaborations Amplifies the Importance of Disabled-Friendly Green Jobs
Jakarta – On Wednesday (26/2), PASTI (Paramitha Sustainability Initiative), in collaboration with the French Embassy, held the PASTI Green Dialogue forum titled “Green Job and Its Challenge in Digital Inclusion” at Institut Français Indonésie (IFI), Thamrin, Central Jakarta.
This dialogue aims to explore the topic of green jobs, inclusivity, and their implementation in the digital era. Currently, job opportunities in the green sector are growing rapidly, but there are still challenges related to accessibility and how to expand opportunities and raise awareness for vulnerable groups.

In addition to the dialogue, PASTI also held a Green Job Exhibition, where local MSMEs opened booths to showcase their products. One of the MSMEs participating this time was Akar: Ecoprint and Natural Care, which presented zero-waste and environmentally friendly textile or clothing products.
The talk show was opened with a speech from Gracia Paramitha, founder of PASTI, who invited participants to become members of PASTI and shared information regarding upcoming training events. This was followed by a presentation regarding the French Embassy’s program related to sustainability and their support for PASTI’s initiatives, delivered by Mr. Jules Irrmann, the President Director of IFI.
In the discussion, the speakers addressed the development of green jobs and the steps that each institution has taken to support them. Diego Rei, Employment and Labor Market Policy Specialist from the ILO, said, “Green jobs include all jobs that contribute to saving the environment. The ILO itself conducts research related to the development of green jobs in Indonesia and provides financial assistance for businesses engaged in the sustainable sector.”
Pertamina Foundation supports the development of green jobs through product design and green process innovation programs. “We (Pertamina Foundation) innovate carbon capture and carbon storage strategies through our green process innovation program,” explained Yulius Bulo, Director of the Pertamina Foundation. Meanwhile, in Jakarta, efforts to increase green jobs and mitigate climate change are carried out through the development of regulations to reduce gas emissions from transportation, commitments
to sustainable development and renewable energy, as well as green skills competency development programs.
To increase inclusivity in the green jobs sector, each institution is committed to providing equal opportunities for all groups, especially vulnerable communities. Some of them provide education and scholarships in the environmental field, as well as training programs. Kikin Tarigan, Commissioner of the National Disability Commission, emphasized the importance of eliminating discrimination against the disabled community and creating a more inclusive work environment for them. “Don’t be afraid to employ the disabled community in work; that’s where we can foster collaboration to support them,” said Kikin Tarigan.
One effort to increase awareness for vulnerable groups is also through training programs that help disabled communities. This is implemented by the MRT and Transjakarta crews. “They (MRT and Transjakarta) go through training to learn to assist disabled communities; there is even a sign language training program,” said Enggar Ferry, Head of the Foreign Cooperation Section of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.

In the digital era, the discussion also highlighted how technology can help improve accessibility for marginalized groups in the environmental sector. The speakers emphasized that digital technology can be used to increase inclusivity, for example, through online training or e-commerce platforms to support green businesses. To enhance inclusivity, we must provide training and support to marginalized communities so that they have adequate competencies and digital technology might just help that. “It is time for disabled and other vulnerable groups to be employed on the basis of competency, not mercy,” said Diego Rei.
The event closed with a Q&A session, where many disabled people actively asked questions related to this topic. The enthusiasm of the participants reflected the increasing interest in green jobs and the commitment to expanding inclusivity in the digital era.
